    Tony Moretta, has a broad background in the financial services, online and broadcast industries. He began work on an embryonic m-commerce business at the beginning of 2011 and brokered the negotiation between the three mobile network operators of EE, Telefonica UK (O2) and Vodafone to form the joint venture that become Project Oscar. Tony subsequently led the joint venture through the EC clearance process and is now responsible for business development and marketing initiatives at Weve.

    Tony brings a wealth of experience both in the financial and broadcast industries to the ambitions that Weve has as a company. He led the development of the Mondex smartcard system in the UK and also its competitor Visa Cash, as VP of New Products at Visa International. His experience in introducing new technologies and concepts includes the first interactive TV ad as Director of Interactivity at ONdigital and as Director of Freeview and CEO of the Digital Radio Development Bureau, ensuring a path to digital switchover in radio as well as TV.

He previously worked at the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA) – focused on the role of innovation and technology as a driver of growth, where he held various policy and communications role, latterly as speech writer for the CEO. Arguably Rene’s biggest project to date was delivering the IT Strategy and infrastructure for the world renowned “The O2″ as European IT Director for Anschutz Entertainment Group.

    Rene’ is a key supporter of emerging technologies such as contactless payment and mobile loyalty and regularly gives key note speeches on these subjects to the Retail and Banking Industry. Rene’ has won numerous industry awards, most notably the 2008 European Retail award for Payment Solutions for his work on contactless payment and followed this up with 3 awards for the 2009 & 2011 Contactless Intelligence Awards for contactless payment.

    Mike Walters joined Barclays on its Business Leadership Graduate Programme in 2002, having read Law at Warwick University and having achieved a Masters degree in a Management at Nottingham. Since joining the bank, Mike as worked in a number of relationship teams managing large UK and Multinational Corporate Relationships for the group securing, successful migration of a number of FTSE 100 clients to Barclays. In early 2007 he was appointed Sales Director for Multinational Corporates headquartered in the UK, Scandinavia and Netherlands. Mike moved to become Regional Director for North American Financial Institutions following the formation of Global Transactional Sales in January 2009, before moving to his current role in July 2010.

    Terry has over 15years experience in the telecomms and mobile industry working in both the public and private sector before joining RBS UK (Retail) as Head of Solution Design for Mobile in November 2011. Terry is currently the Head of Mobile for RBS UK (Retail). In this role, Terry owns the strategic direction and delivery of the award winning RBSG (incl NatWest) UK Retail Mobile Banking Service.
    Using core Product Management skills as a base, Terry has been developing mobile applications and mobile solutions for the last 8 years. Terry is fuelled by the belief that the right combination of technology, design and customer experience can really change the way we go about our daily lives.

    As Head of Solution Design for Mobile at RBS, Terry was the Design Authority for the business architecture and solution design of the RBSG retail banking mobile application which currently has over 2 million active users. Features of the app include Payments and Transfers, Longer Statement History, mobile phone top up, cash withdrawal from an ATM and person to person payments. Terry was also part of the team responsible for the NatWest TouchPay pilot, the UK’s first deployment of an offline Mobile Contactless payment solution.

    Previously, Terry was a Senior Product Manager for Mobile Applications at Airwave Solutions Ltd. Terry was responsible for developing and delivering mobile apps to the Emergency Services market on the back of the Airwave TETRA radio network. Terry focused on mapping processes using LEAN principles to identify inefficiencies in current working practices and then using this insight to develop mobile software to solve the problem.

    Before Airwave, Terry held a number of Product Management roles in the telecoms industry with Tiscali and Energis. Terry was educated at St Bede’s Grammar school in Manchester, and graduated from the business school of Brunel University with an Honours Degree in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing

    Neil founded Proxama in 2005 (then called Glue4 Technologies). The business focused on creating services that link people and brands using consumer technologies. In 2008, the company was rebranded as Proxama with a focus on the applications of mobile, smartcard and NFC technologies. Neil passionately believes in using emerging technologies to create valuable services for people.
    Prior to founding Proxama, Neil ran a division of a niche consultancy, Consult Hyperion, where he led the systems implementation teams for a number of ground breaking products including Vodafone’s m-Pesa, MasterCard’s PayPass, Sky and Barclaycard’s SkyCard and American Express Blue card.
    Neil has a MEng and DPhil from York University and is a Chartered Engineer. Any precious time at home is split between renovating an old property and enjoying life with his wife and three young children.

    Nick’s business development role in VocaLink is focused entirely upon new developments and initiatives, providing the link between product development and the marketplace. In this role he led VocaLink’s successful bid to provide the infrastructure for the Payments Council’s Mobile Payments Service, due to go live in April 2014 providing person-to-person bank account to bank account payments using the mobile number as an identifier for the payment.

    Florent CETIER is NFC program manager in Transdev group, in charge of BPASS Project. BPASS is a solution on NFC mobile phone, combining ticketing, passenger information, and infotainment, in multimodal environments.

    Before joining Transdev group in 2007, Florent has worked 9 years in electronic transactions, fare collection systems especially, as project manager.

    BPASS: Simplifying the passenger experience with NFC technology.
    BPASS is a service on NFC-enabled phones, commercially in operation in Nice (France) since May 2010, and in pilot in Paris area since August 2012. BPASS can be downloaded “over the air” on all NFC phones commercialized by mobile network operators (Bouygues Telecom, NRJ mobile, Orange and SFR at present).
    Customers equipped with BPASS are able to buy and pay their tickets or pass over the air (wherever and whenever they want), and to validate them using their NFC phone like a contactless card. They also have an easy access to real-time schedules and trip planners, and to a wide variety of content (infotainment) linked to their journey through NFC tags deployed at each bus and trams stops.
    BPASS is all about simplifying access to public transport. No queues, no need to carry loose change, no lost time. It allows people to use public transport, including bike and car sharing, more spontaneously.

Here he conceived, funded and built an anonymous digital cash payment system [smartaxis]. Working with Nokia & Apple to build modifiable browsers and smartcard readers into their 9000 and Newton (forerunner to the iPhone) products. The service was supported by Mastercard, NatWest, NETS in Singapore, Europay and others.

    Predicting a world where people would be downloading music and films and books onto smart devices they held in their hands: the vision was sound but of course the market was not ready.

    What has changed since then? Why is the time right now for services like this to succeed commercially?

    Julian can help us put the current initiatives into context and help explain why market maturity, the Internet Rules and the emergence of the ‘Ecosystem’ are enabling new entrants/services to be commercially viable.

    Tapio started his smart card career in Setec, the leading Nordic smart card vendor acting there in various management roles, including Head of Product Marketing, and Senior Vice President of Telecom & Media Business Unit. Upon Gemplus acquiring Setec, Tapio became Vice President of Product and Solution Management for Identity in Gemalto before joining Valimo Wireless as CEO and Executive Vice President. Today Tapio acts as Director for NFC Solutions in Giesecke & Devrient.

    Gabor Lemak manages the Hungarian Mobile Wallet Asosciation as Secretary General. His main responsibility is to establish a sustainable mobile NFC ecosystem in Hungary and to launch the first countrywide mobile NFC payment pilot project.

    The Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association was founded in June, 2011 with the collaboration and cooperation of six decisive service providers: Hungarian Telekom, Telenor, Vodafone, OTP Bank, MasterCard and SuperShop. The aim of the Association is to promote innovative, NFC technology based mobile payment solutions, systems and services, and also to develop the relevant professional guidelines in Hungary.

    The pilot project started in July, 2013 and will last for approximately six months.

    Presently, Gabor is managing the preparation for the Mobile Wallet commercial launch in Hungary.

    Previously, Hungarian Telekom – subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom – appointed him as the Director of a newly set up high-tech innovation cluster. He was responsible for cooperating 70 ICT SMEs’, as well as multinational companies’ (like Hungarian Telekom, Ericsson, SUN, Microsoft) local R & D and innovation activities through generating innovation projects. Among his responsibilities he was involved in incubating ICT SMEs and start-ups.

    He is an economist specialized for managing cutting edge initiatives based upon infocommunication technologies.

    Samee leads the firm’s advanced payments consulting practice. He has advised banks, payment companies, mobile operators, and other payment service providers on developing their payment strategies.

    He also advises clients on mergers and acquisitions with a specific emphasis on financial services entities. His clients include investment banks, private equity providers, hedge funds, and large acquisitive companies.

    He previously held leadership positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and at Scient Consulting based in New York. He started his career with Visa International in London where he helped banks enhance their payment product profitability.

    A highly respected management consultant, Samee has published a number of articles in leading industry journals such as the Electronic Payments International, American Banker and Banking Strategies Magazine. He is a regular speaker at key industry events and has co-authored a book “Developing and Managing a Successful Payment Cards Business” published by Gower Publications.

    He is experienced in leading Mobile Wallets and Mobile Banking applications, strategic alliances between Banks and MNO’s and inventor of two patens (pending of approval) related to QR codes, Security, Mobile Payments and Mobile Banking.
